Have you ever shown up to a place and felt unsure, unclear, or even unseen? Did you see someone in Richmond who looked like you and wanted to spark conversation but didn't know how? It can be hard out here - have you seen the economy?! 😟


Loneliness is a real thing not talked about enough (and without shame). What does it mean to show up for oneself and others? It truly is a miracle when people get together for a meaningful engagement. A lot of thought and work goes into making a great event and even more of that with time and trust when building a community.


Kintsugi Connections serves as a stepping stone to fill the greater need for facilitated hangouts amongst the AAPI community ages 24+ in the greater Richmond, Virginia area through grassroots efforts of meeting wherever our hearts desires on a bi-monthly basis.

Awareness

“Remember you must die” - therefore it is with gratitude that life, time, and energy are all limited, precious, and connected. Be present, lead with empathy, and hold curiosity of yourself and others.

Reciprocity

A relationship is work - but worthy work when both parties are equitable and full of warmth. It feels like a nice hug when things flow and are familiar. Don't just want a good friend - be that good friend.

Candor

Sincere honesty and openness in meeting together allow for authentic expressions and holding space for all the range of emotions and experiences we have as humans. Life is imperfect and full of nuances!

Building for the better

It is with the hope and vision that one day there will be a physical space in which several generations of us gather over bowls of rice; where there are plenty of expressions, laughter, and stories exchanged; and finally a semblance of peace where there is the understanding that while we all are tired - we have and will continue to endure this life together.

“I've been fortunate enough to have been participating in Kintsugi Connections since its 2023 inception. The gatherings for third culture and Asian folks that they do are such a welcome interruption every month. It's always a thing to look forward to, to see familiar and new faces. They do a great job at making you feel safe and secure in the space, and even the longer meetups go by so unbelievably quickly. Even in the days after, I feel such a strong sense of relaxation, excitement, and momentum. Every time I walk away a little bit happier, a little bit more secure in myself and my identity, and I know it's something that wouldn't be the case without the sense of community that Kintsugi has brought to the Richmond Area.”
